Original sponsor of the budget audit review by the State of New Jersey Rewrote the taxi ordinance for better treatment of our citizens. Only council member voted against directors having their own vehicles Had closing hours changed on tattoo parlor so they weren’t open late with people hanging out in our neighborhood. Came out early against Devils arena and helped organize a committee to oppose the same Sponsored several car washes for fire victims and hurricane victims Coordinated clothes and food drives Housed 3 fire victims in my home for 2 weeks Took early stand for lightrail and was involved in petition signing plus letter to newspaper Worked with environmental committee in planting 200+ trees thruout Hoboken-Also involved in farmers market Formed a development committee that sponsored blight study which will give us a new supermarket, a location for one of our brilliant charter schools as well as affordable housing and a community center all which will pay taxes. This will help offset the 31% tax reduction in the northwest quadrant since 1991 therefore easing the burden of our present taxpayers. Original member of Northwest Community Advisory Panel which monitors development in the 5th ward Only council member voted against hiring Deputy Police Chief Had cobblestone street restored on 10th and Grand Had fines increased for out of town lunch wagons, taking away our merchants business Never voted for a single tax increase Voted for a tax decrease 4 times Promoted additional parks- we actually doubled the amount of park space in Hoboken in four years. Toured sewerage treatment facility when we had problems with flooding and made recommendations to Mayors committee. Worked with the tenants and families involved in the sale of David E. Rue School building to make sure everyone was treated equitably Member of the Holy Name Society , STS. Peter and Paul Full time council person completely accessible First council person with email , have on-line citizens on a mailing list to keep them current with latest issues and events, also have voice mail, beeper, respond to constituents immediately Always consult constituents before voting Worked against the development of 24 story buildings at Hoboken entrance, because of the density height and traffic Worked against the development of a six story structure on 9th and Washington Street that also had no parking included . Member of the Hoboken Elks Original member of Hoboken Quality of Life Had new street signage placed in Northwest end of town Soccer coach, baseball coach, girls softball coach, organized girls softball clinic Called Henkel in so we had more knowledge concerning their production and future plans Spoke out on the proposed cab increase Worked with citizens to secured monies from Adopt a lot program for plantings on the islands Helped build a reading nook in the Legion Park with the late John Sacci’s baseball team Also did a total cleanup at that location Fought for Charter Schools, great supporter of the family Battled the Film industry, had a fifth ward meeting and proposed changes to the ordinance for a better quality of life for the residents of the 5th ward.
